Getting to and from the airport 15

NJ Transit and Amtrak via Newark Liberty Airport Train StationTrain
Take the AirTrain from any terminal station to "Airport Train Station" (last stop). From Terminal A, first walk 15 min or ride the 5-min shuttle to the Terminal A AirTrain station. Weekdays 5:00–15:00 (construction) the P4-to-train-station leg is a shuttle bus; follow red-coat staff.
Before security
HoursAirTrain to the station runs 24 h; NJ Transit Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line trains stop frequently, less often late night. Check the NJ Transit app.
Cost$8.75 AirTrain fee each way unless it is already built into your NJ Transit/Amtrak ticket. Airport-quoted totals including the fee are about $17.25 to New York Penn Station (30 min) and $12.05 to Newark Penn (5 min). Tap a contactless card at the station gates, use the NJ Transit app, or machines.

AirTrain from the train station takes about 7 min to C, 11 min to B, 20 min to A (incl. the walk). Add up to 15 min during the weekday bus substitution. PATH to Manhattan is a separate fare from Newark Penn. Elevators at the station.

AirTrain replacement construction, weekday bus substitutionService change
Between P4 station and the Airport Train Station. AirTrain keeps running between P4, Terminal C, Terminal B, P3 and Terminal A stations.
Before security
HoursMost weekdays 5:00–15:00. Normal AirTrain on weekends and during peak travel periods. The Port Authority said outages pause 30 Oct 2026–15 Jan 2027; NJ Transit's advisory lists them through 13 Nov 2026. More outages planned 2027–28.
CostFree shuttle buses every 4–5 min; the $8.75 rail-link fee still applies.

Allow up to 15 min extra. Buses are ADA-compliant and serve all terminals, the Rental Car Center and P4. New AirTrain opens 2030 and will stop directly at Terminal A.
